Terms of use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
The short version. The study tools are free. Learners and parents use the Tutors section free too. Tutors pay R150 per seat per month, and can cancel any time. Learners pay tutors directly, never FundaRoute. Be kind, keep learners safe, and report anything that worries you.
1. Who we are
FundaRoute (fundaroute.netlify.app) is a South African website for high school learners, their parents and tutors. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean FundaRoute, and "you" means anyone who uses the site.
You can reach us at kinglesabe@gmail.com. See Contact us for what to send us and how fast we answer.
2. What FundaRoute is
- Study tools (subject choice, the APS calculator, courses, bursaries, flashcards, the focus timer and the planner). These are free and need no account. What you type into them stays on your phone or computer.
- The Tutors section. Learners and parents join free. Tutors pay for a seat. It has grade channels, messages, lesson bookings, reviews and teaching tools.
3. University, course and bursary information
We collect admission rules, APS scores, closing dates and bursaries from each institution's and funder's own published documents, and link to where we got each one. They change every year and we can make mistakes. Always check the university's or bursary's own website before you apply. A score on FundaRoute is a guide, not a promise of a place or of funding.
4. Accounts
- Give your real name and an email address you can open. Keep your password to yourself.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to you making an account. They can link to your account with your parent code and read your marks, lessons and messages with tutors.
- One account per person. Don't sign up as someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. See the Privacy policy for what that removes.
5. Tutors
- Every tutor must pass an ID check (ID document, selfie and face match) done by Didit, an identity company, before they can teach. A tick next to a name means the ID check passed. It does not mean we have checked their qualifications or vouch for their teaching.
- Tutors are independent. They are not employed by FundaRoute and do not act for us.
- Each tutor sets their own rate and how they take payment. Learners pay the tutor directly. FundaRoute is not part of that arrangement and can not refund lesson fees. Agree on the price, the length of a lesson and what happens if a lesson is missed before you pay.
6. The tutor subscription
- A team pays R150 per seat per month. One seat is one tutor. The person who starts the team pays for every seat in it.
- Payment is by card through PayFast, as a monthly subscription that renews until it is cancelled. We never see your card number.
- Adding or removing seats changes the amount from the next monthly payment.
- You can cancel at any time in Team settings. Your team stays paid up until the end of the month you paid for. See Refunds and cancelling.
- If a payment fails, PayFast tries again. If it keeps failing, the team's tutor tools stop until it is paid.
- If the price changes, we tell team owners by email at least 30 days before the new price is charged.
7. How everyone must behave
Most people on FundaRoute are children. These rules are there to keep them safe.
- No bullying, threats, hate speech, sexual content, or sharing anyone's private information.
- Tutors may not ask a learner to meet in person, or to move to WhatsApp, social media or another app, without the learner's parent or guardian knowing and agreeing. A tutor may not message a learner first: the learner starts the conversation.
- No spam, no selling things other than your own tutoring, and no cheating services (writing assignments or exams for learners).
- Don't try to get into accounts or parts of the site that are not yours, or to break or overload the site.
We can delete messages, mute people, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. If a team owner's account is closed for breaking them, we do not refund the rest of that month.
8. Reporting and safety
Anyone can report a message or block a person. Reports go to FundaRoute and, for grade channels, to the tutors of that grade. The person you report is not told who reported them.
Where a report suggests a child is in danger or being abused, we will tell the police or the relevant authorities and give them what they need, as South African law requires.
If you are in danger now, call the police on 10111. Childline South Africa is free on 116, any time.
9. What you post
You own what you post. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you posted it to, so the site can work. You are responsible for what you post. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
10. Our responsibility to you
We work to keep FundaRoute running, accurate and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for loss caused by relying on information on the site without checking it at the source, or by what tutors, learners or parents do. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to people who pay, we email team owners before it applies.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
