Choosing your Grade 10 subjects
The subjects you pick at the end of Grade 9 decide which doors are open when you finish school. Pick a set and watch which careers stay open.

This uses the most common method: your best 6 subjects, not counting Life Orientation. Some universities count differently, so each course below is checked the way its own university counts.

Money to study
Bursaries sorted by closing date, so the urgent ones are first. If you've filled in your marks, we'll show which ones fit them.
Can I get NSFAS?

Flashcards make you pull the answer out of your memory, and that's what makes it stick. Cards you know come back after longer and longer gaps. Cards you forget come back tomorrow.
Make your own deck
Put your phone face down until it rings. Then take a 5-minute break: stand up, drink water, stay off social media. After 4 rounds, take a longer break.
Today's sessions
Add your exams. We'll spread your revision so the subjects you're least ready for get more time, and every subject comes back a few times before its exam.
Reading your notes again and again feels like studying, but it's one of the weakest ways to learn. These methods are the ones research shows work best. Each one has something you can try right now.

Find a tutor for your grade. Or be one.
Every grade from 8 to 12 has its own section. Learners join free, ask questions and find a tutor for their grade. Tutors pay for a seat, choose the grades they teach, and get tutor-only channels, a private team server and direct messages.
- A section for every grade. Grade 8 to 12 each get announcements, find-a-tutor and homework-help. Learners only see their own grade. Tutors see the grades they tutor.
- Learners pay tutors, not us. Each tutor's rate and how they take payment is on their profile. Learners pay the tutor directly. Tutors pay FundaRoute for their seat.
- A channel for every subject you tutor. Plus a tutors-only channel in each grade and a tutor lounge. Learners can't see any of them.
- Teach right in the chat. Live video or audio-only lessons, quizzes with as many questions as you like, polls, voice notes, a shared whiteboard, and homework with marks. Learners hand in privately, so only the tutor sees their answers.
- Make your own channels. Tutors add channels, like on Discord: to the grade sections they tutor, the tutor lounge, or their team's private server. Make one private and pick who can see it.
- Safe messages. Learners can message tutors who teach their grade. A tutor can only reply once a learner writes first. Learners can message their study buddies, and a linked parent can read those chats. Anyone can report a message or block someone, and tutors can mute learners who break the rules.
- Book lessons and rate tutors. Tutors set the times they are free. Learners book a time, and the tutor accepts. After a lesson, learners can rate the tutor.
- Every tutor's ID is checked. Tutors sign in with a password and pass an ID check (ID document, selfie and face match, done by Didit) before they can teach. Look for the tick next to their name.
- Study buddies. Learners pick a username, find each other by it and add study buddies. Buddies can message each other, see each other's study streak and start a focus session together.
- Your own class. Tutors add students with a class code, by inviting their @username, or by accepting a learner who asks to join. Each class gets a private channel, and tutor and student can message each other any time.
- Learn together. Tutor office hours, group study rooms with a shared focus timer, weekly challenges and polls. Learners earn helper points when a tutor marks their answer as helpful.
- Parents can follow along. A parent links to their child with a code, then sees their marks, lessons and messages with tutors. Parents can only read; they don't need a username.
Tutors: R150 per seat, per month
One seat is one tutor. A tutoring centre with 6 tutors buys 6 seats. Add or remove seats any time. Learners use it free.
